How I Prep my Lips | Liquid Lipstick

Hi Guys,

So I believe we all know the trouble of putting on a liquid lipstick and then realizing it is clinging to every crack, every dry spot, every little bit of chap lips that you have. I am going to show you the products that I personally use to prep my lips for the liquid lipstick! Since I moved to Oklahoma in Feb… my lips have not been the same since leaving California. I have never had such dry lips. I am putting on my lip balm constantly but have found my holy grail that I cannot do without.IMG_24191

These 3 items are amazing and worth every penny. My holy grail lip balm is the Nivea *a kiss of smoothness hydrating lip care $5.65*. This lip balm I feel would be a dupe for the philosophy hope in a stick ($12.00 )  It is so smooth and moisturizing on my lips. It doesn’t feel like your typical chap-stick.

Before I apply any liquid lipstick I always exfoliate my lips. Depending on how dry they are determines if I use the homemade sugar scrub which is less abrasive on the lips, or the e.l.f lip exfoliater ($3.00).  The e.l.f lip exfoliater is a great product, although you have to work your way through a wax layer before you hit the actual sugar.

After exfoliating my lips I put on my lip balm to absorb some of the moisture. I let that sit at least 10-15 minutes before putting on the lipstick. I typically do the exfoliating at the beginning of putting on my makeup so it can just sit on my lips until the end!

Do you guy’s have any special ways that you prep your lips for liquid lipstick? Let me know in the comments below! I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions!

Thanks for reading,
